So don't buy one? Have you ridden one? I suspect not. I haven't either, I'd like to though. There must be some reason they're taking off. Also, props to Kona for building a more hard wearing 29" hardtail, most of the ones I've seen up to now have been strictly XC affairs.

So, I did a full rebuild (changes all the seals, oil, wipers) and it's still making the noise. Though, when I opened the Air Spring side, there was the remains of a thin, red washer. It was broken into bits and between the air spring tube and the lowers. Not sure what it was but I bet it's the lack of it which is causing the noise. They do feel a lot plusher now though.
